چکیده

Abstract—This paper presents a numerical simulation of the human head coupling with a Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) structure based on the Coupled Integral Equation/Method of Moment (CIE/MoM) approach to study the effects of the EM coupling on the antenna performance. A mix-potential integral equation (MPIE) for the surface current of PIFA structure and a volume electric field integral equation (VEFIE) for the head with mutual coupling terms are obtained. Finally numerical results will be presented at 900 and 1800MHz for the antenna performance parameters. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated using the XFDTD software.

An Interaction Study between Pifas Hand- Set Antenna and a Human Hand-head in Per- Sonal Communications

Abstract—In this paper, the interaction of a planar inverted-F antennas array, mounted on a mobile handset, with a human hand-head phantom is investigated in the 1.9GHz band. The hybrid approach involving the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Nelder-Mead (NM) algorithm is considered to optimize the complex excitations of the adaptive array elements in a mutual coupling environment for diffe...

Compact High Isolation Meandered-Line PIFA Antenna for LTE (Band-Class-13) Handset Applications

MIMO systems have become an essential part in many communications networks and Long Term Evolution (4G) mobile communication systems. Mobile handsets using lower band of LTE (LTE700 band) require antennas of reduced size that can be adapted to the limited space in the handset. This paper presents the design, optimization and implementation of two meandered-line PIFA antennas working as an MIMO ...

Enhanced Gain Planar Inverted-F Antenna with Metamaterial Superstrate for UMTS Applications

Planar inverted-F antennas (PIFA) are widely used in wireless hand-held devices due to their small-size, moderate bandwidth and radiation patterns. However, the radiation patterns of such antennas degrade when placed very close to a conductive finite ground plane. In this paper, an engineered magnetic superstrate is introduced to enhance the gain of PIFA antennas. The engineered magnetic supers...

Characterisation of Multiple Antennas and Channel for Small Mobile Terminals

MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology has been regarded as a practical approach to increase the wireless channel capacity and reliability. In this technology, the performance of multiple antennas has a significant effect on the MIMO channel capacity. Currently, the MIMO channel capacity is mostly evaluated without accounting for the practical aspects of multiple antennas. Though mult...

Antennas Made of Transparent Conductive Films

Abstract— The radiation characteristics of two kinds of antennas made of transparent conductive films are investigated: a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and a monopole antenna. These antennas are designed to work at 2.4 GHz and their performances are compared with each other for several films with different sheet resistivities. Wire-grid models based on the moment method are applied for the n...
